The Public Forum held on Tuesday, July 03, 2012 was attended by various healthcare stakeholders, representatives from government agencies, and local residents who delivered their concerns and inquiries relative to the newly upheld law, Affordable Care Act. Senator Dennis G. Rodriguez, Jr.  prepared an informative presentation on facts regarding PPACA and how it is affecting the people of our island community.

Senator Rodriguez stated, "The PPACA forum was very informative for all healthcare stakeholders and for our local residents watching in at home.  PPACA was recently upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court and is going to have a significant impact to our island. Although we still have many questions that have not been answered about what applies to Guam, I plan to have a follow-up forum to discuss the issues further."

Please find below the Powepoint presentation delivered by Senator Rodriguez.

UST Medical Mission

Sen. Rodriguez with members of the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Org. and Department of Public Health during their Medical Mission 2012.

The Annual Medical Mission sponsored by the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Organization in partnership with the Department of Public Health and Social Services along with other organizations on Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the Swamp Road area was a success.

The mission was to bring health screenings and education for members of the community who may not have accessible health care.  Dozens of the island's residents participated in the mission underwent health assessments by volunteer Doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.

"It is the loving and caring hearts of these volunteers from UST, DPHSS and other organizations who come to help our families who do not have direct medical care.  The assessments done today will help our families learn what their health risks are and hopefully encourage them to seek medical care to control these risks or to help them make positive health changes in their day to day lives.  Congratulations to all who helped make this year's medical mission a success!"  Sen. Rodriguez stated.
