PRESENTATION ON SILENT STROKES AND VASCULAR DISEASES IN COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENTS ON GUAM TO BE CONDUCTED
Tamuning, Guam. Senator Dennis G. Rodriguez, Chairman of the Committee on Health invites the people of Guam to attend a presentation on Silent Strokes and Vascular Diseases in Cognitive Impairments on Guam conducted by Dr. Ramel Carlos and his son, Noel Carlos, co-authors of the research presentation.
Dr. Carlos and Noel will make their presentation to the people of Guam on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 6pm in the Guam Legislature Public Hearing Room.
In the conclusion of the report, the data collected was used toward further research to determine whether patients with silent stroke and leukoaraiosis, and with memory loss and Mild Cognitive Impairments will later develop dementia.
The data is also to provide the public with increased information and awareness that proper treatment of various vascular diseases can potentially prevent the development of cerebral infarctions or silent strokes, which both can contribute to cognitive impairment and dementia providing a fount of information for all the people of Guam and the world, providing insight to the dangers of these diseases and hope for providing treatment and taking precautions when dealing with such.
Dr. Ramel Carlos and Noel Carlos, conducted their research from 2006 to 2014, at which their findings were presented on March 14-16, 2016 at the 5th World Congress on Neurology in London where they were awarded the Best Research Poster Presentation.
Advocates and Ambassadors for healthcare in Neurology, both Dr. Carlos and Noel have worked to serve Guam’s community for many years. Noel Carlos, a 2014 graduate and class salutatorian of Father Duenas Memorial School is passionately following in his father’s steps toward achieving a medical degree in Neurosciences at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA).
The Committee invites the people of Guam and all medical professionals to participate in the forum immediately following the presentation.
The presentation will be broadcast live on GTA Channel 21 or Docomo Channel 117.
